Senior Softball players Chelsea Lotief and Sara Seago were ready for basketball season to wrap up and softball season to begin. Both Chelsea and Sara have been on the softball team since the eighth grade. Chelsea Lotief is actually going to pursue a collegiate softball career at The University of Louisiana Lafayette (UL) in the fall of 2015.
After the best women’s basketball season in AES history, Chelsea and Sara are ready for a winning softball season. Both Chelsea and Sara stated, “We are most looking forward to spending our senior year with with all the younger girls.” Seago said that being able to bond and play with younger students is something that makes Ascension really special.
“I am really looking forward to hopefully coming back next year to visit and see how much they have grown,” said Sara.
This is actually only Ascension’s fourth year having a softball team. Each year, the teams record has gotten better and better.
” I know this years season will be one of our best,” said Chelsea. “We have a lot of girls who played last year playing again this year and that will benefit our team.”
The softball team has had a few scrimmages and there regular season started on February 23rd. So far the girls have only lost two games! Some of the teams the softball team will be going up against this year are; Abbeville, Jeanerette, LCA, Hanson, Ville Platte, VC, Central Catholic and Gueydan.
This past Friday the girls played Ville Plate and beat them 17-1! So far the softball teams record is 4-2. Make sure to come out and support your Lady Gator Softball Team today at home against Vermillion Catholic! The game starts at 4.
