How long have you been doing cross country? I have been running cross country for three years now, beginning in 6th grade.
What is your favorite part of the sport? I enjoy cross country running as an individual sport. If I work hard at it, I can do well. If I slack off, I cannot blame anyone but myself. And if I have a bad day, I am not letting anyone else down.
What is the best time that you have run? The fastest time that I finished a cross coutry meet was 12:41 for 2 miles, at this year’s Christian League Championship for middle school (at Ascension).
How did you do at the Cajun Cup 10k? I actually received third place overall in the female division of Lafayette’s Cajun Cup 10K race, which felt like a great accomplishment.
Do you have any suppressions or rituals that have/do before you run? I always pray before I run a race for God to give me strenghth as is said in my life verse Philippians 4:13 which states, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” And I strongly believe in this as a life verse. That is one thing that I always think of. Also, I have some favorite pink Nike shoes that I where at every race that I run. On the other hand, I heard that it is bad luck to where the official race shirt which is given out in the registration packet (such as Cajun Cup shirt or Camelia Crossing shirt) for the race, so I where a different shirt on the race day.
What is the furthest you have ran at one time? The Cajun Cup 10-K is the longest race that I have participated in. It is 6.2 miles.
Do you eat a per-run snack? If so what is it? Usually, I eat a banana before I run for a little energy, so I won’t be too full.
What is your weekly training regimen? Nornally, in cross country we run Tuesdays and Thursdays. Then on the weekend our family runs together on Friday and Saturday. On the days that I don’t run, I like to ride an exercise bike because I don’t like to sit still.
