The varsity volleyball team had a strong showing at the Carencro Volleyball Tournament this weekend.
The tournament was held on Thursday, Sept. 9 through Saturday, Sept. 11. The girls played at Carencro High School. On Thursday, they beat Acadiana High. They also beat Rayne and Broadmoor on Saturday but lost to St. Martinville in the semi-finals.
“We played on Saturday with only six girls in extremely hot temperatures in a gym with no air conditioning,” said Coach Jill Braun.
Laura Lee was the teams kill leader for the tournament with 22, while Tessa Mattke led in service aces with 10. Laurel Smith led the team in digs with 19, and Danni Duck had 44 assists.
Michael Trahan, Alex Voorhies, Spencer Perry, Heath Headley, and Myles Lee showed up at the tournament on Saturday painted in blue and white to cheer on the AES volleyball team.
