Maddie Plunk participates in many extracurricular activities, including leadership, but her favorite is theater. She has been involved in theater since 5th grade, and she has had some amazing opportunities throughout her time being at Ascension. She was able to play Naomi in Faith County and was cast in The Sound of Music before it was canceled due to COVID. She has also been involved in CYT, where she has played Anna in Frozen and Morticia in The Addams Family. When asked about the theater experiences made available to her, Maddie said, “I’m so thankful for Ascension and all the memories, friends, and opportunities it has brought me!”
Maddie has plans for her life after Ascension, and she knows what she wants to do with her life after college. She plans to study psychology with a minor in theater. Maddie wants to work with kids with special needs after college, and she is hoping to become a developmental psychologist, which she thinks will be a great starting point. She would love to incorporate theater into her work one day, and she thinks that it would be amazing to be able to use theater as a form of therapy for special needs kids. When asked about her desire to work with special needs children, Maddie said that “because my brother was diagnosed with autism, I spent a lot of time at his school for kids with special needs, and I truly loved it. Working with special needs kids will always have a special place in my heart, and I hope to be able to pursue this as a career and be able to positively impact the lives of others.”
