Eli Ortego has been at Ascension since Pre-K 3. He is the senior athletics class leader, a member of the golf team, part of the Young Americans for Freedom club, and attends YoungLife meetings. Eli has been on Ascension’s varsity golf team since the 7th grade and he and his teammates have won the state championship consecutively for 2 years. One of Eli’s favorite Ascension memories was the week of his senior homecoming. He specifically enjoyed the games that each grade competed in before the pep rally. His favorite teacher at Ascension is Mrs. Robert because “she is caring and loving to all her students”. He enjoys working with her as a part of the leadership team. 

Eli will be attending UL in the fall and plans on majoring in either business or finance. In November of 2020, Eli signed to play with the Ragin Cajun golf team. “I am truly honored and blessed to join the UL golf team for the next four years, this has been a long time coming and I couldn’t be more excited. I am proud to represent the state of Louisiana with some of my best friends and play under a coach that I aspire to be like.” Eli aspires to become a professional golfer in his years following college. He is excited for what is to come and trusts that God will put him on the best path of life.
