The MVP race is great this year as there is no clear winner for the award. This week’s top five contenders are Shai-Gilgeous Alexander, Nikola Jokić, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jayson Tatum, and Karl-Anthony Towns. Jayson Tatum and Karl-Anthony Towns have both recently proved themselves a top five competitor for the MVP, while Giannis Antetokounmpo has been constantly a top five choice. On the other hand, Shai-Gilgeous Alexander and Nikola Jokić have been back-and-forth options for the MVP award. Shai averages more total points (32), winning games by being the main scorer. While Jokić still averages a substantial amount of points (30.2), he also finds ways for the whole team to benefit more, shown by his average of 10.1 assists and 13.4 rebounds. Shai proves to be a better defensive player, averaging 2 steals per game. Both Shai and Jokić are very talented, and definitely the best on their team. It is very close to who is the best player in the league and deserves the MVP.

Know this guy knows his ball. I personally believe Shai will win the award mainly due to voter fatigue that most of the panelist will show. The sensation of voters fatigue is something that needs to change because I believe the best and most valuable players shouldn’t be penalized for their continued excellence. This phenomenon has been very apparent in recent history as people do not like to see the same people have continued success. LeBron might be the most snubbed player of all time because he was by far the most valuable player in the league for at least a ten year span, but he was only granted 4 MVPs due to voter fatigue. My speculation is to preserve Jordan’s legacy. My view point is that many of these voters grew up watching Jordan, and therefore refuse to admit that LeBron is the GOAT. So with the power they hold as a MVP voter they do their best to deny LeBron’s excellence. But that’s just my speculations.
