Ascension’s fall production of The Game’s Afoot is under way, and we are so excited to perform!
The Game’s Afoot is a murder mystery and comedic play set in the 1930s. It was first published in 2012 and won the Edgar Award for Best Play in the same year! The production follows actor and playwright William Gillette as he invites his castmates (along with other surprising guests) to his Connecticut mansion on Christmas Eve. Gillette is set on uncovering the mystery behind a tragedy that occurred two weeks prior, but then, even more mysteries begin to unfold as the night goes on.
Though the play has only eight characters, they are all unique and full of life, especially while being played by our outstanding student actors:
- Sam Sonnier as William Gillette (Blue Cast and Red Cast)
- Eleanor West as Martha Gillette (Blue Cast and Red Cast)
- Braxton Leonard as Felix Geisel (Blue Cast)
- Luke Landry as Felix Geisel (Red Cast)
- Ava Bourgeois as Madge Geisel (Blue Cast)
- Lilly Kennedy as Madge Geisel (Red Cast)
- Cameron Adania as Simon Bright (Blue Cast)
- Grant Landry as Simon Bright (Red Cast)
- Martha Odom as Aggie Wheeler (Blue Cast)
- Annabella Delcambre as Aggie Wheeler (Red Cast)
- Abby Boone as Inspector Goring (Blue Cast)
- Camryn Landry as Inspector Goring (Red Cast)
- Emmeline D’Albor as Daria Chase (Blue Cast and Red Cast)
This play marks a new page in Ascension theatre history, as this is the first time we are performing with two separate casts for a production. It is a super exciting feature as many actors of different ages and acting styles are able to bring their talents to the stage! The show will run from Thursday, December 5th through Sunday, December 8th. The Blue Cast will perform on Friday and Sunday and the Red Cast will perform on Thursday and Saturday. The link to secure your tickets can be found in the Arts tab on the Ascension Episcopal School website.
This is my second play with Ascension, and I am so honored to be part of it! As we prepare intently for this production, I can’t wait to have similar experiences working hard for the spring musical. I would definitely recommend joining an Ascension theatre production. It is a lot of fun for everyone involved and there is such a strong community made when we can all bond over what will become an amazing final product on the stage.
