Winnie McClymont, a senior at Ascension, recently performed in Phantom of The Opera alongside many other Ascension students like Chloe Ste. Marie, Addie Prochaska, Camryn Landry, and Ava Bourgeois. The play was done through CYT in Lafayette at Angelle Hall on the UL campus. After a long ten weeks, they performed for the first time on January 25th. Winnie played the role of Carlotta Guidicelli, which she had dreamed about playing for years. When asked about her favorite part of the play, Winnie said, “Getting to perform alongside some of the most talented people I know.” Winnie says she was scared that her voice wouldn’t sustain for six shows but she proved herself wrong. She said, “I don’t think there’s anything I would change or do differently about the show. The process was hard, but it was so worth it. This is definitely in my top three shows, though I can’t rank it. It was such a different experience than anything I have ever done before.”
One last thing Winnie would like to say is, “I am so incredibly lucky to have gotten to perform this show in high school. It will definitely go down in history :)”
