Blood Drive
For those students looking for an opportunity to help out the community (and to get a free t-shirt), Our Lady of Lourdes Blood Donor Center is a great start. On Tuesday, February 21, students and teachers decided to donate their time, and blood, to serve those in need. To participate in the blood drive, the student must be at least 16 years old. But this did not leave out the younger students, who could easily have a parent donate on their behalf. To influence the students to give blood, they were offered a pizza party and a free dress pass in return for donating.
Mrs. Trahan, a frequent donor, says, “For me, I chose to give blood because I think of someone’s husband, wife, father, mother, child who could be saved because of my blood. Something so small that takes such a small amount of time could make all the difference in the world to a family.” Without the generous blood donations that are made, there would not be enough blood for the hospital patients that desperately need it. Donors make such a huge difference in our community and you never know when you or someone you love will need blood.
