Every year students and teachers get extremely pumped for Homecoming week.
Each day students and sometimes teachers dress up according to that theme along with fun activities. Even though this special week is hectic, it all builds up to the game and dance. So what is happening each day?
Monday will be “Tackle Breast Cancer” day when the students can dress in pink and/or their favorite sports team attire. This will help to support the volleyball game that night against CHS at 4:00 p.m. which is for the cure. During the school day, musicians and artists will perform in the gym at 10:00 a.m.
“Who Dat'” day will be on Tuesday where students will come dressed as their favorite cartoon, T.V., book, or movie character. The annual powder puff football game will also be held at 10:00 a.m. This will also be the day that the house decorated bulletins will be judged.
Wednesday everyone will be dressed in camo atttire for “Bayou People” day. At 10:00 a.m. in the school gym, Eucharist service will be held.
Twin day this year will be “Noah’s Pirogue” on Thursday where students will pair up and dress as an animal from Noah’s Ark. There will be a relay race at 10:00 a.m. in gym and another volleyball game at LCA at 4:00 p.m. Later that evening will be the parade and bonfire starting at 6:15. Lastly, the moment many have been waiting for, the lighting of the brand new foot ball field at 7:00.
Friday will be “Spirit Day” where everyone will come dressed in their Ascension spirit blue and white attire. At 1:00 p.m. all students from SMP will be bussed to the downtown campus for the pep rally. Later that night our football team will take on LCA at 7:00 with tail gating starting at 6:15 on our own campus.
Saturday will be the “Battle on the Bayou” themed homecoming dance. Tickets will be $8 in advance or $10 at the door. The dress code is semiformal and the dance will be held in the library from 8-11.
