On Friday, Nov. 11, the upper school had its traditional Thanksgiving Feast.
The students and faculty were on a special schedule for classes, and around noon, everyone gathered in the gym for a blessing before enjoying the annual Thanksgiving Feast.
Parents provided multiple side dishes, including breads, salads, green bean casseroles, rice dressing, and lots of desserts. Parents also helped to serve the entire campus, beginning with the veterans among the faculty. The AES Administration helped to fry turkeys and provided ham for the feast.
“The Thanksgiving Feast is one of the oldest traditions at the AES upper school campus,” Mrs. Fournet said about this event.
Nov. 17, 2008 was the day that the upper school students and faculty moved in the Sugar Mill Pond campus. A couple of days after the move was the very first Thanksgiving Feast at the Sugar Mill Pond campus.
The day of the Thanksgiving Feast is usually about a week or two before Thanksgiving Break, and it is important that all of the students and faculty get together to count their blessings and be thankful for all of the good things in their lives.
The school also took time to help out others as well. On that day, many upper school students and teachers paid for free dress in order to get turkeys for unfortunate families in the Youngsville area.
