On Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011 at 7:30 AM, all students are invited and encouraged to gather around the flagpole of the SMP campus to pray together at “See You at the Pole”.
The annual gathering of “See You at the Pole” began in 1990. Each year that this prayer service has occurred, the popularity of it has amplified.
In 2005, more than 2 million students participated, and this was just in the US.
As students gather around their United States flagpoles, they join hands and say in sync, “Father, may Your will be done on my campus as it is in Heaven.”
According to the “See You at the Pole” website, an explanation for the event is, “a global movement of prayer which is student-initiated, student-organized, and student-led. It revolves around students praying together on the fourth Wednesday in September, before school, and usually at the school’s flagpole.”
“It’s a national event,” said Ms. Arabie.
