As many have noticed, the Upper School recently acquired 10 new iMacs.
The new computers, plus math software called “Geometer’s Sketchpad”, came from a grant from Louisiana’s Education Excellence Fund. Technology Director Gayle Broussard submitted the school’s grant application in July.
“Funding is from the Millennium Trust created by the state legislature in 1999,” said Mrs. Broussard.
The purpose of the grant was to provide learning experiences for students to improve comprehension of abstract mathematical concepts through the use of technology.
The computers will be placed in Room 130, Ms. Arabie’s classroom, to create a mini-lab for math instruction and other uses.
According to Ms. Arabie, “Geometer’s Sketchpad” is a math visualization software program that can be applied to all areas of math.
