Falling Star: Christian Singleton
During his junior year football season, Christian suffered a devastating ACL tear, an injury that immediately sidelined him for the rest of the year. The injury not only cost him his football season but also took away his chance to have an immediate impact on the basketball court, where he was expected to be the team’s best shooter. Months of rehab followed, forcing him to watch from the sidelines as his teammates played on.
Determined to come back stronger, Christian worked tirelessly, showing the team firsthand what it meant to battle through adversity. When basketball season arrived, Christian was back and better than ever. We quickly realized what we had missed out on last year. When we needed a bucket, Christian always seemed to find a way to get open and hit shots. But just as he was finding his rhythm, fate dealt another cruel blow—he re-injured his ACL in the middle of the season, bringing his high school career to an abrupt and heartbreaking end.
Christian’s journey through injuries can be described by him as, “strenuous, eye-opening, and humbling.” Although we never got to see Christian at full strength, he was widely recognized as someone who persevered through adversity, setting an example for all of us. When asked about his experience with Ascension sports he said, “Everyone was super supportive… I never felt alone through the healing process”
