The show Jersey Boys was also recently performed downtown at the ACA, telling the story of the early rock band The Four Seasons. This band was formed in New Jersey during the 1960s and wrote hits like “Sherry,” “Beggin,’” and “Can’t Take My Eyes off of You.” Every song in the show was from the band’s lengthy discography and was played by a live band backstage. The show’s format was interesting as it was split into quarters and narrated by each of the four band members. Each of the four men is assigned a season as the show goes on that fits their personality and is represented through color motifs throughout the performance. During each of the four “seasons,” the musicians continue the story while also giving a slightly different opinion on the band’s history. This show was extra special because one of the leading men, the musician and gambler Tommy DeVito, was played by Brian Sanford, a former music teacher here at Ascension! Overall, this show was unexpectedly fun and heartfelt. The older audience members were thrilled to hear the songs from their childhood sung live on stage by an incredibly talented cast.
