Last weekend, the Tony Award-winning show Hadestown was performed by CYT at Angelle Hall! This show is still on Broadway and has only recently released its rights for student productions. The musical retells the tragic love story of Orpheus and Eurydice as well as Hades and Persophone. This Greek inspired show is a modernized version of those ancient myths with a fantastic, memorable soundtrack played by a live band that remained onstage for the entire show. It is also an incredibly sad show about trust, poverty, love, and loss that challenges the audience’s way of thinking and viewing the world. With a story this important to tell, CYT pulled out all the stops with a fantastic set! They built a rotating disk, manned by the ensemble, that spun the stage floor while characters stood on it to create an impressive visual effect. Overall this show was one of the best shows CYT has ever produced and showcased the incredible talents of local teens!
