Over the course of last week, Louisiana shut down due to the unexpected – a blizzard that led to over nine inches of snow! When being stuck inside, away from friends, I had to find something to do when it was too cold to go outside, so these are a few things that would be the best to do when being stuck at home. 

1) Enjoy the snow. First and foremost, snow days in Louisiana are extremely rare so it is important to not take them for granted. It is nice to go in the snow and have the experience of being in it and making snow angels and snowmen. It is also fun to make different desserts out of the snow such as putting it with your favorite sweet drink to make a slushie, or making the snow into ice cream.

2) Clean. It sounds really boring and unexciting, but sometimes cleaning can be really fun and relaxing, especially with free time and not having to pause the process. It is even better if you can play music that way you can enjoy your favorite songs while being able to zone out of the cleaning itself.

3) Start something new. Finally, whether it is an art piece, a story, or learning a new language, being stuck inside on a snow day is a great excuse to be creative or to pick up a new hobby you felt like you would not have due to lack of free time.
