This is Ms. Callais’s first year teaching at Ascension, but she has been teaching for a total of ten years. Here at Ascension, she teaches English 8 and English III: American Literature. She is also a co-sponsor to the Crochet Club with Ms. Lad. She loves to teach English because she likes “how discussing and writing about the texts we read help us to practice creativity, critical thinking skills, and develop our own unique voices.” Her favorite thing about Ascension since she has been here is how welcoming and kind everyone is toward her and each other. She feels “happy every day when I walk in the doors!” She has been looking most forward to homecoming because she has heard so many fun things that we do here at Ascension for Homecoming Week. She would also like to chaperone a grade class trip while she is here at Ascension. Some fun facts about her are that she is from Lafayette, she went to Teurlings for high school, and she went to LSU for college. Her favorite movies are Clueless and 10 Things I Hate About You, her favorite books are Pride and Prejudice and The Book Thief, Her favorite food is Mexican, and her favorite color is purple!

Mary Frances Durio, Staff Writer
Hi guys! My name is Mary Frances Durio, and I will be a junior this school year. While being at Ascension, I am involved in many extracurricular activities such as softball, volleyball, and leadership. I have one sibling who is going to be a freshman this year at school. Some things I like to do in my free time are hanging out with friends and family, reading, and watching movies. This is my first year in journalism, and I am so excited to be a part of this team!
