This year, the sophomores traveled to Pigeon Forge,Tennessee to visit the Smoky Mountains! It lasted over a span of four days, and we enjoyed participating in all of the fun activities that Tennessee had to offer! We departed school on Monday morning and spent most of the day traveling. Our first flight left from Houston and landed in Atlanta, then we drove from the Atlanta Airport to Tallulah Gorge State Park where we embarked on a short hike. Afterwards, we drove around 5 hours to Gatlinburg where we got to eat at a restaurant of our choice and explore the town and all of its fun attractions! On our second day, we had a great start to our day when we went to The Smoky Mountain National Park for our first hike. The hike consisted of two different trails where we got to see waterfalls, wildlife, and scenery. After the hike, we got to eat lunch in the park. That night, we headed to the Lumberjack Show where we got to witness the great feud of the two lumberjack families. They completed a series of vigorous competitions. On the third day, we set off early to go ziplining and white water rafting. First, we went on a zipline course where we got to experience different types and heights of ziplining. Then, we split into groups, put on gear, and set off to go whitewater rafting, which was a thrilling experience. For our last night, we ate pizza at Mellow Mushroom and then went to a fair! We went on many fun rides such as the Dance 360, the Spinning Parrott, and the ferris wheel. On Thursday, we stopped at a cavern before spending the rest of the day traveling back home. This trip was an amazing experience and was one of my personal favorite trips that our grade has been on!

Hey y'all! My name is CC, and I am a junior this year. This is my second year in journalism and I'm so excited to continue writing and creating the yearbook. So far at Ascension, I've been involved in volleyball and cheer. My favorite thing about Ascension is how nice all of the students and teachers are. Outside of school, I love spending time with my friends, cheering, and shopping. I’m so excited to be returning to journalism and I can't wait to see what this year has in store!!
