March, April, and May–that’s all we have left. The end of the year is slowly approaching, and the feelings of excitement and panic also creep up. As a senior, I am looking forward to finally getting to experience those events that I had been nervously waiting for. Soon the senior class and I will be able to say, “Last prom! Last Academic Pep-rally! Last, Last Hurrah! And Last day of high school!”
As exciting as all this sounds, most of us can be honest and share the same feelings of sadness. When the time comes, leaving Ascension will feel like getting out of your comfort zone. Thinking about the future can bring worries and excitement. For me, one phrase I’ve been constantly saying is “I can’t wait. “I can’t wait to go to prom, I can’t wait to graduate, or I can’t wait to go to college.” Although looking forward to the future is exciting, making sure you’re taking in the present is just as important. Don’t lose the moment searching for another.
As the lasts of the lasts approaches, live fully in them. One quote I will always remember is something Coach Sorrell had told the volleyball team two weeks before state. He said, “Don’t be stuck in the overflow,” meaning don’t just go through the motions every day, but enjoy and be present in what is happening. So, as we have three more months left, take advantage and live in the moment.
