- What is LLS? The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the quality of life for blood cancer patients and their families.
- What is your role this year? I, along with two other high school students in Lafayette, have been nominated to participate in the 2024 Student Visionary of the Year fundraising event.
- What is the student Visionaries of the Year campaign? Each year, LLS nominates high school students around the country to participate in a seven-week Student Visionary of the Year fundraising event. My team and I are competing against other teams in Louisiana to raise the most funds for LLS. Our campaign begins on February 1st and ends on March 23rd, 2024.
- How does fundraising for this organization work? Through a letter campaign, restaurant give-back nights, a silent auction, and a variety of other fundraising events, our team hopes to raise $50,000 for LLS.
- How does the money benefit patients? Funds are raised to enhance advocacy programs, improve patient support, and provide research for a cure for blood cancer.
Regardless of whether we reach our fundraising goal, we are excited and honored to be able to raise money for such a worthy cause!
