The regular football season is officially over. Sadly, this past week, the Ascension Blue Gator football team suffered a tough loss to the Franklin Hornets (44-43). This loss forfeits what would have been the district championship to the Catholic High Panthers. However, it is worth noting that when Ascension played Catholic High, we won (30-17). Regardless, due to the Blue Gators’s 3-2 district record, we were unable to clench the district leaving it to the Panthers. Even though the Gators did not end the season as strongly as we would have liked to, we are still moving on to the playoffs as the 17 seed. In the first round, the Blue Gators will face off against the Loyola College Prep Snoopies in Shreveport on November 10th. Assuming we win, Ascension will then go on to play the St. Charles Comets, the same team that knocked us out of the playoffs last year and the current 1 seed. There is a lot to be excited about going into the playoffs with a chance to make a run for state.
