Name: Leah Franques
Grade Started: Pre-K4
Favorite Teacher: There are too many to decide, but my top two are Mrs. Robert and Mr. Ducote. Mrs. Robert pushes me to be the best version of myself and makes class fun and engaging. Mr. Ducote gets me enthusiastic about math every day in class, even if it’s just note-taking, and he answers my many, many questions.
Favorite Ascension Memory: The fifth-grade trip to Washington, DC.
Future Plans: Plans to attend a four-year university and ultimately continue my education with a degree in the medical field.
Leah is currently the Publicity Prefect, and she has previously been a member of the leadership team, and she was a class leader. She is a Varsity cheerleader on the competition team this year, and she was on Gator Jazz for three years. Leah took her passion for the medical field and started the first Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) Club. In her free time, she dances at Lafayette Ballet Theatre and has performed yearly in The Nutcracker and spring ballets since second grade. Having attended Ascension since she was four years old, she says that Ascension is truly her second home and her second family. Teachers and coaches have become her “school moms and dads,” and friends have become sisters and brothers. Leah says, “We have laughed, learned, celebrated, cried, and cheered for each other.” If Leah could describe herself in three words, she’d choose friendly, fun, and focused. A fun fact about Leah is that she loves horror movies! A piece of advice she’d give to younger students is “to get involved and try new things while you are in high school because it goes fast!” Leah says that she will carry Ascension’s core values of being gentle, generous, truthful, kind, and brave with her for the rest of her life. Forever a Blue Gator!
