Our 2023 Homecoming game was definitely one we will all remember, especially for the Senior girls on Homecoming Court. While all 10 of us were looking forward to the presentation on the football field with all of our family and friends watching and cheering us on, mother nature had other plans. The weather was clear, and the sky was pretty as we arrived at the Woodring’s house in SMP to take pictures and line up in our cars for the parade. As we left in our cars, we noticed the sky was getting darker and the wind was definitely picking up. Our hair was blowing everywhere while many of us were trying to not let our hats fall off into the roads. As we arrived at the field and started getting out of our cars, we heard the first rain delay was put in place for 30 minutes. It started to rain, and we all headed into the gym to make sure we didn’t get rained on. The rain didn’t stop and the rain delays kept coming. Sad to say, the Homecoming Court presentation was pushed into the gym. While it wasn’t what any of us were planning on happening and definitely not what any of us were wishing for, we made the best of it. With our family, friends, and even our Blue Gator football team, all 10 of us made the best of a tough situation. At the end of the day, we all wish it would have been different, and we know this was not something planned. With our Homecoming Queen Brianna Gayle and our first maid Mamie Mendell, we all celebrated their winnings and then headed back outside to watch our last Homecoming football game.
