Caroline Ortemond has been involved in many activities during her time at Ascension, such as being the chief-in-editor of photography, playing softball, being a Spiritual Life Class Leader, co-founding Beads for Needs, working on the yearbook, being part of the Brent Henley program, participating in the Sunshine Committee, playing basketball, competing in Quiz Bowl, participating in the Crochet Club, being a part of YoungLife and LifeTeen, and being a member of Beta Club, National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, Science Honor Society, National English Honor Society, Rho Kappa, Speech and Debate Honor Society, American Legion, and National Society of High School Scholars. This year, she is the editor-in-chief of Journalism and the yearbook.
In her free time, she enjoys reading (especially National Geographic), painting, and drawing, although she says she doesn’t have very much free time in general. She calls herself an “open book” but one thing that people may not know about her is that she used to play the violin. Her favorite thing about Ascension is the environment where everyone knows each other, and they have lots of opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities. If she were to describe herself in three words, she would say she is truthful, kind, and energetic.
Her advice to the younger students at Ascension is that it goes by quickly and not to take anything for granted. She is going to miss Ascension when she graduates and is extremely grateful that she got to grow up with her class.
