See YOU at the Pole
On Wednesday September 27th, Ascension held their annual See You at the Pole gathering. This event is student-led, and the students participate in prayer, scripture-reading and worship. See You at the Pole is a worldwide event and happens every year on the fourth Wednesday in September.
See You at the Pole grew from a youth group in Texas in the early 1990’s. The Texas youth group went to a ministry retreat and prayed for several local schools. They then shared the story at a youth conference impacting thousands of students. In September of 1990, more than 56,000 teens across 1,200 campuses all came together and prayed for local schools as well. This movement began from just a small group in Texas and has continued to grow and grow by the year. This event is now an international event.
On September 27, Ascension proudly participated in See You at the Pole, welcoming students and teachers. This event is led by the Spiritual Life committee. Senior Madeleine Thibeaux says, “See You at the Pole is, in my opinion, one of the coolest things we get to do every year. The fact that we have the freedom and opportunity to come together as a school community and worship God with the rest of the country is absolutely amazing. We are ‘one nation under God,’ and this event allows us to truly unify with other communities in our Christian beliefs. I’m so thankful for Ascension and our ability to be vulnerable about beliefs.” We don’t realize our blessings and this event is a great way to show our thankfulness for our freedom and pray that it continues to keep growing each year. Junior Addison Vidrine adds, “It was so heartwarming. Great way to start my day.” We are so thankful for everyone who came out and took a stand for what they believe in.
