Sarah Smith: Aveda

This past Sunday, March 19th, senior Sarah Smith competed in a fashion show to win a full scholarship to attend Aveda. To enter this contest, Sarah had to submit a three minute long video explaining why she would be a good choice for this scholarship. After the video was submitted, she had to make an outfit out of recycled objects for her model to wear. To make this outfit Sarah used recycled maps and chicken wire for the skirt and objects such as keys, ribbons, paper flowers, yarn, and broken CD’s for the top. Along with making this entire outfit, Sarah also had to do her models hair and makeup.

For the fashion show on Sunday, Sarah says “it was very hectic and stressful but also very much worth it.” Out of fifteen contestants, Sarah placed second and received a $1,000 scholarship. Sarah says, “It was very rewarding and a good opportunity.”
